KoolTorch, The Search Visualization That No One Would Use

March 11, 2007

KoolTorch is a patented technology that lets you visualize your search based on categorization and clustering of the underlying data.

Typical search results retrieve web pages based primarily on the number of pages linking to them. This definitely is not pertinent in all cases and for all users. KoolTorch retrieves the results and present them in a multi-level graphical format with 100 or more results displayed in a single page.

The graphical presentation might be nice for some, but it really takes a while to chart it out and I for one is certainly not so patient to wait that long. According to KoolTorch the results you are searching for might not be on the first page, but by using KoolTorch you are making sure that they are not on the first page, as it is riddled with a graphic categorization of the results, that no one would be interested in.

KoolTorch is one service that I am sure I won’t be using, unless they do something radically innovative.

GotZapp – Youtube for Mobile Phones

March 11, 2007

GotZapp, the Youtube for Mobile Phones let you send receive and create Zapps.

The Zapps are mobile photo galleries, blogs, stories, music and media clips that you can send to most color mobile phones with internet access. Users could create these Zapps using the “Zirada” mobile content creator, which is a free program offer by the same company.

GotZapp is the second mobile social network to launch within a week, the other one being Zannel. Clearly the mobile social networking space is heating up for battle quickly. I am still waiting to see when established players of social networking on web: MySpace, Bebo, facebook and others, will embrace the mobile market.

Mogopop is similar service for the iPod world.
